So my bulk is finishing up (peaked at about 207...213 with a full belly :) ). As I begin my cut I decided this week to try and break as many records as possible. Seeing as I've been setting new records (for multiple reps) each week, I'm going to try and find as many 1 rep maxes as possible.

Today I was my bench/BB row/Standing Press day. I've been an awful bencher most of my life, so was my dad. We have the same insertion points, etc. We're just not built for benching. SO I was uber-excited last week when I was doing 260 for 5 reps (my 1 rep record is 265). I kept my discipline and didn't shoot for records at the expense of muscle building, knowing at the end I'd shoot for something. Today I went like this:

245*2 265*1 275*1 285*1 300*X BARELY missed 300. I was SO happy. I'm not going to continue the bulk, I'll cut, try to retain as much strength as possible, and at the start of my next bulk I'll be starting much stronger than I was this cycle.

BB Rows are an exercise that I've had coming on for the last few months. Took me nearly 5 years to get the hang of them, but I was finally repping around 260 on them.

Today I went: 245*1 265*1 (tied PR) 285*1 (new pr) 300*1 (New pr)

Finally I finished with BB standing presses. I never really did these before, usually i went with DBs in the past, so my record wasn't that high here. I went:

155*1 175*1 (new PR).

And that's 3 records in one day!

UPDATE:

Today I broke my record for squatting (345) my record for Romanian Deadlifts (435) which is actually now my record for any form of deadlift. That should stand for about 4 days, I'm going to do standard deadlifting friday and will try for around 450, and I also broke my seated calf press record (lol) 225*1.

We are pretty similar apart from you have 13.5lbs on me :p

BB Flat Bench: 285*1 : 294.8lbs for me
BB Rows: 300*1 : How do you do this barbell row? You upright row 300lbs?! Or you bent over row it? You get the bar to touch your sternum?
BB Standing Press: 175*1 : 182.6lbs for me, I want to hit bw before the year is over 198lbs or a bit over would be fantastic!
BB Squats: 345*1 : 411.4lbs I squat every session...
BB Romanian DLs: 435*1 : I don't do this but I don't imagine it to be anywhere near yours! Impressive!
Seated Calves: 225*1 (lol) : I don't do this
DB Incline Bench: 110*2 : I don't do this but yours is a lot more anyway!
Pullups: 90*1 : 88lbs for me
DB Seated Press: 85*1 : never do this
BB Deadlifts: 450*1 : 396lbs : your got me beat on this one!
BB Front Squats: 275*1 : 352 I squat often :p

Race you to 200lbs Military Press?!

Good stats man!

Well considering you're 13 lbs lighter and beat me on the big ones (Squats) I'd say you're doing a dang good job. And I'll take your offer to the 200 lbs. military press.

It's a bent over row. Can anyone actually upright row 300? I'd pay to see that. Yeah, bar to sternum. I could've gotten more if I wasn't worried about my form going to crap. Weird thing is my lats just do NOT grow as big as you'd think. I think it's just genetic. I can bang out set after set of BB Row, DB Row, Pullups, etc. and my lats just do not get as wide as they should be for the weight I'm throwing around. They're plenty thick, but there really isn't much width to them.

Awesome work. That's a crazy number of PR's and pretty impressive all around. Did you finally get hip drive figured out on squats?

yeah, I can feel a difference now. I still lose the form every now and then, but I can tell right away, and correct it.

Thanks!
