If I would have been in that boat when that thing swam up beside it I would have definitely shat myself!!!

i feel kinda bad that a creature that lived that long to get the big is now dead.

what do people do with sharks after they catch them? can you eat shark meat?

Yes, but I don't know what will happen with this particular animal. It seems like a waste to me too.

Yupp, it's good too

They salt and dry the meat so it can be preserved and used in the rainy season.

That is BY FAR the biggest mako I have ever seen! I've been into big game fishing since I was a little kid, I would have given anything to have been on that boat when all that was going down.

DAMN. Makos are amazing, and this one even moreso. I'm not sure what blows my mind more - the fact that thing is as big as a car, or that they got it to the boat within 15min! I've had fish half that size take 2-3 hrs just to show some leader. DAMN.

Some sharks are good eating, although even with those particular species there is usually some lengthy prep work if the goal is anything but drying it. Mako is good, as is sandbar. Shark meat generally has a lot of urea in it, when people cut it into steaks for grilling or whatever, they usually soak the cuts overnight in milk.

read it again...the shark came to the side of the boat at 15 mins .. long enough to get a rope aroudn the tail...
then it drug the boat for over an hour...

OMG thats huge...but I thought the biggest mako caught was 1530lbs.

Doesnt say how many ft he is 🙁

Exactly... I don't understand why hunters like to kill those big game animals. It's not like they are going to eat it.

I always thought {Mako} sharks were bigger, guess not. 1035 doesn't seem that big to me.

Did you mean to put a mako in there? Or were you speaking about sharks in general? If you were speaking generally, some species do get MUCH larger -- the Whale Shark can grow to 60 feet and weigh over 20 tons.

I'm wondering whos blood that is all over the sharks mouth, that can't be just from a giant hook or something, can it?

Yah. That's sad. 🙁 -- they should've just taken photos and then left it alone.

Yea, that should be Mako. Filter feeding sharks are huge.

Mako are dang fast sharks too! I think it is sad - I'm not against hunting but i think the worlds population is getting so high that hunting of certain things needs to be regulated more. There are not going to be many "trophies" in the future if we dont. Especially things that reproduce slowly and have few offspring - such as sharks.

That's one big mako. I can't imagine being in a boat, a 42 footer at that, with that thing dragging me backwards all that time.
