Not exactly what I have in mind when I heard the name jig saw, care to explain the difference of this and the long one?

Resellerratings don't seem great for these guys, but that is a nice price. A couple of the 5 star reviews seem to be shills.

For what it's worth I've made two purchases from this site before (a shopvac and a sawzall) and no problems. I've not had to test their customer service though so I can't say for sure. They've been around a long time.

Oh, and I think the technical name for a sawzall is a saber saw right?

I don't think there's any real technical name for distinguishing the two. I've seen jigsaws labeled as sabre saws.

I've got an old (30 years) craftsman jigsaw at home, it works fine but it leaks oil everywhere. Seriously contemplating picking this up.

The bosch 1587 was/is pretty widely regarded as the best jigsaw out there. It's older now and new models have come out with different features but this one is still a workhorse. Dewalt, Milwaukee etc all copied the design and released their versions but they're not much cheaper than the real deal.
