Recommnd me a good Computer Desk

I'm looking for a good computer desk, it can be either a corner or normal. I want something in a fairly dark wood color, but not as dark as mohogany. I prefer not to have a keyboard pull out (it'll be okay if it's large enough to fit my Saitek Gamers keyboard, command pad, and func surface mousepad.) Some cabinets and/or other storage space is also preferred but not that important. I also need a large space on the LEFT, low to the floor to put my case.
I don't want to pay over $200 and please tell me where I can buy the desk.

Thanks

I'd wait for one to show up on craigslist. The desk I have now is great and I got it for $50.

What about office chairs? I'm currently using a wooden stool right now and it sucks. I need a nice chair I can lean back in while gaming and surfing the net.

Go to Officemax, Office Depot, or Staples. They have tons of confortable chairs that you can try out. I just don't like their desks. Does anyone have any other desk suggestions?

Ikea has decent mix and match stuff, check there. I got mine at Staples, it's a huge cheery L shaped desk with a hutch. It used to have a keyboard tray but I broke it off after a few bad games of Warcraft last summer, I hated the thing anyway.

Thanks for the suggestion of Ikea. I looked at their website and found a couple of nice, inexpensive desks. However, the closest Ikea is 2 hours away :frown:

I've tried computer desk after computer desk for 15 years. No matter how much I like each at first, I became disappointed with each because of construction (most use particle board which is lousy when wetted) or had a distinct lack of drawers (I'm a packrat and LOVE drawers!) or ended up looking/feeling too cheap or came apart when being moved (particle board construction again!)

I finally found, after looking for months, a regular 6-drawer office desk at a household auction. Solid walnut, including the drawers and their bottoms, dovetailing throughout, leather top. Measures 60"L X 32"W. The size was more than adequate to take my tower (Antec Sonata), my 17" LCD, my Samsung laser printer, and fit a cast-off computer desk hutch someone was getting rid of (their desk had also fallen apart so I took the hutch home form it before he threw the rest away). The hutch is 48"W x 12"D and fits the desk perfectly.

Now, I've got a very nice functional desk that's lasted over 50 years before I got it and will last well beyond my days on this earth, it's that solid.

On the other hand, I occasionally see at Sam's Club a very solidly built oak computer-dedicated desk, but it goes for over $600.....kinda pricey.

As for chairs, Office Depot has anice one in leather I love.....again, sorta pricey at $325, but as in anything else, you get exactly what you pay for and with furniture, sub-$100 chairs tend to have either thin foam or foam that packs down quickly or non-padded arms (cannot stand hard plastic arms....yech!)

someone put toether a sweet tutorial on how to build a nice desk that can accomidate thre mointoes the cpus etc etc. it was cool cant find thel link any more though

If you buy from an office chain I would recommend Staples.com their selection is pretty good.

Also find a $30 off $150 coupon code to save even more, free shipping on orders over $50.

2 file cabinets and a interior door works pretty well too. And its low-budget! 😀

That said, check out my desk area I put together from Ikea. It's essentially two Ikea tables jammed together with an Ikea shelving unit spanning between them. Room for 3 CPUs plus 2 printers, scanners, monitors, routers, all kinds of crap jammed in there.

Man, I really need to head over to Ikea next time I go to the Chicago area.
