Hi,

I'm going to build a system with

Core i7 920 overclocked to 3.4ghz
Asus P6T Deluxe
3 Corsair Dominator DDR3 1GB 1600mhz
MSI Geforce GTX 260 OC
WD Caviar Black SATA
LG BluRay Reader DVD/CD Read/Writer

Any thoughts on what PSU wattage I should get? I was going to get the Raidmax Smilodon Case with 500Watt PSU... I'm never going to have more than 1 graphics card... too $$

Thanks!

I'd trust an Antec EarthWatts 650 psu to run that rig.

There are several really good psu's, but I'd stick with the Antec (EarthWatts and Signature Series), Corsair or PC&C. Any other these psu's would do the job, and has solid reliability.

You will not buy a raidmax psu for your Nehalem rig. GOT IT?

Yes to the psus mentioned in the post above mine. Bfg makes some very good ones too.

$320 CPU
$350 mobo
$250 RAM
$250 video card
$20 PSU
...
System blowing up due to crappy PSU
...
PRICELESS

Uh, dude, it's like buying a Dodge Viper and installing $50 tires on it.

If you are building a $400 budget computer, then yes use a $40 budget PSU. If you are building a $1500 high performance gaming rig, expect to spend $150.

Also, I would suggest you look for some other RAM. To hit the rated speeds, the Corsair Dominator needs 1.8-2.0v. Running those RAM voltages can kill your Core i7. You should find RAM that doesn't need more than 1.65v, and preferably 1.5v.

I love my Corsair 750TX... works great, and its not that expensive.

But on the other hand i prefer my PSU to have a single +12V rail, and you'll probably get differing opinion on that.
They have a 650TX model too, which i hear people like a bit more... and its also not expensive.

PC P&C has some great PSU's in that range.

Thanks guys.. I went with

Antec True Power Trio TP3-650 650W ATX12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready Active PFC Power Supply with Three 12V Rails

Got it for $69.99 on newegg.
