Recommended codec pack?

Turkish

Lifer
Hello.

Which codec pack do you guys recommend for Windows XP? I used to use Kazaa Lite Codec Pack but not sure if that's good anymore. Any recommendations?

Thanks 🙂

I used to cringe at the mention of codec packs, but since then I've come to like CCCP.

edit: CCCP is officially recommended by the guys who made the Matroska (.mkv) container format.

CCCP and k-lite are both quite good. I use k-lite full since I do a good bit of video encoding and it plays nicer with Windows Media Encoder.

Codec packs can really screw things up. You should start with FFDshow, and as you need more codecs, find the "codec", not the pack.

Often times packs install a ton of codecs you will never need and can sometimes conflict with other players.

That use to be the case, but not so much anymore. As mentioned, CCCP and k-lite are based on ffdshow, with the addition of haali, vobsub and ac3filter (In k-lite's case). The main differences are the configuration wizards.
