Hey all, I'm sitting here, still using my Radeon 32mb DDR (please don't laugh) and I've been holding out for the 9500 release.
I do game, but usually I play older stuff (UT, sid meier games, and now WC3, but that's not that video intensive), but I would like to be able to play newer stuff, even if only at 1024 and not the highest detail settings.
I'm running a 1.7Ghz Willy, and probably won't upgrade for 2+ years, so I'm wondering if a 9500 will be wasted on my processor, and if I should just get a 128mb 8500le now. I'd rather buy an ATI card because I don't want to take a step down in 2D quality, because that's where I spend most of my time, and even though the G4ti 2D quality is pretty good, it kind of sounds like a crapshoot in that department, and I'd rather have guaranteed high quality 2D. Also, I'd like to keep the higher quality TV-out.
So, any recommendations? I'm just worried that if I buy the 8500le now for 100-110, I might have to shell it out again in a year, where as with the 9500, I could probably go 2 years before another upgrade.
thanks in advance,
