Hello Everyone,

I'm building my very first PC. Here is what I have so far:

CPU: Pentium 4 2.66GHz
Motherboard: ASUS P4PE Black Pearl
Memory: Kingston 512 MB KVR222/512R 333 MHz DDR
Video: MSI GeForce FX 5600-VTD$128
HD: Western Digital 120GB 8MB SE HDD WD1200JBRTL

I would like to purchase a new looking case as well!
Any Recommendations?

Also, some quick questions regarding the ASUS Motherboard:

When it states that sound and ethernet is optional...

What exactly does this mean?

Do I need to purchase these separately?

So far I'm well ahead of my budget of under $750!!!!

Feedback on this would be greatly appreciated!

THANKS A LOT!

Welcome tothe forums Giants415,

How attached to the processor are you? You might consider a 2.6C 800fsb

For motherboard I'd suggest Abit from newegg $98.00 w/ free shipping. Would work with either cpu

For memory I'd go with KINGSTON HyperX 184-pin 256MB DDR400 (PC3200) DDR RAM modules, Model# KHX3200A/256. Get 2 so you can make use of Dual Channel memory. Also from newegg $62.00 plus $4.00 shipping each.

As far as cases go what are you looking to spend? What color? again take a look at newegg

Get either an Abit IS-7 or Asus P4P800 Deluxe, a P4 2.6C, and 2 sticks of DDR400 for dual-channel operation. To compare the older 533 MHz P4's against the 800 MHz, read this

Both motherboards have LAN and audio.

A nice case that's also cheap is the Antec SLK3700AMB for $65 from newegg.com (or mwave, etc.)

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Does this look like it would work?

I like the case but would like something with a clear side
panel and a door for the front. Black or silver would be
nice!

Any recommendations anyone????

Thanks!

Hi,

I bought the silver version of this case-->X-Pider for my new system and I really like it. It has a side window, drive door, comes with 4 LCD fans, and has plenty of room for cooling and work space. The only drawback is that it doesn't come with a PSU. I would recommend a nice Antec power supply from Newegg. I bought the TrueBlue 480W and it is awesome.

Your case is sweet! I'm torn between the Black or Silver.
The power supply is nice but a little too expensive for me!
Any recommendations on an alternative P/S?
Thanks
