Recommendations on video editing software?

I currently have Pinnacle Studio 8. I love the ease of us, editing capabilities, and transitions (picked up hollywood fx plus free), but the #^$#@$ thing crashes constantly on me. Anyone have recommendations on another program to use? Here's my wish list:

Easy to use (~ studio level of easy)
Import from DV camcorder via firewire
STABLE!!!
Cheap (most of my time on AT is in the hot deals forum, if that tells you anything... I got studio 8 and HFX plus for a total of $5 after rebates. That's my kind of pricing 🙂 Although I'd be willing to pay a little something for great software)
 
You get what you pay for. You brag for one line about the price but the rest of the message you complain about what a piece of s**t it is.

Adobe Premiere = great software
 
Stable, powerful, and cheap. Pick any two. 😉 Anything below prosumer range and I'm pretty useless. You can grab a demo copy of Vegas Video from Sonic Foundry and see if you like it.
