Recommendations on size of Page File

I was playing HL2 and after I exited out for the day, I saw a windows warning about low virtual memory and that it had to readjust it. I have a gig of ram and 256MB virtual memory set up. Is this too little virtual memory? I dont think HL2 surpassed 768MB of ram usage.

I have never seen this before, and previously, I read somewhere (maybe here) that you dont really need a huge virtual memory if you have a gig or more of ram. Since I didnt exceed the capacity of my ram, im not sure why windows had to dip into virtual memory...

Any thoughts?

I keep mine at 512mb w\o problems in HL2. IMO if it is at 256 you might as well disable it.

256 is not enough. I would say 512 or better.

If you're running XP just leave it system managed, there's generally no gain from fiddling with it.
