Recommendations on a new vacuum cleaner?

Booooo...

We weren't looking to spend a ton on a vacuum since we have no wall-to-wall carpet in the house. I went on Amazon to look @ reviews and we got a Hoover Tempo Widepath for $70 shipped. It has a 12 amp motor and it cleans our area rugs up really really well...better than any other home vac I've ever used (then again, I've never used $600 dysons before). Don't let the cheap price fool you.

Thanks, something like that seems to be what I'm looking for. Are there any cheap dysons? Or are they all hundreds of dollars?

Eureka Boss.

EDIT:
Do NOT go bagless. You just end up putting the dust into a bag anyway, and its a lot more messy.

 Don't waste your money on a Dyson.

See posts of a cycloneman over at the FatWallet.
He is a vacum cleaner geek that swears by the cyclonic technology.

I have gotten a Hoover Mach5 Cyclonic cleaner based on the cycloneman's recommendations.

Mach5

I am very happy about it, the only bad thing about it is removing dirt from the container, but its cleaning performance is excellent.

Youtube Vacuum Cleaner Reviews?

People also like Hoover Whispers and MachX series. Of course, if you want the best, get the Dyson!

Do you know how much of a pain the ass it is to try to clean your place up with a broken vacuum cleaner?

Plus, I do want to keep my place clean or else I'll go insane from all the dust and shit.

Hundreds of dollars, it seems. That is, unless you buy refurb / used.

Yeah, that is a shame but oh well

Dyson fan here - they run pretty quiet for how well they work. The carpet always has that 'just steam-cleaned carpet' look everytime I use it, too. I'd spend the money again in a heartbeat.

Hi, sorry for topic necromancy, but didn't want to open a new one since I found a topic about the very same question like I'm going to ask.
Currently I'm buying a new vacuum cleaner for our new home, and I want to buy the best one on the market. A vacuum cleaner which will work for us for years and will make vacuuming less of a burden for my girlfriend. Something which will help to do the work fast.
Currently thinking of buying a Dyson DC25. Read great reviews about it, but maybe someone has more experience with vacuums.
I know this is not the best place for such questions, but I'm not registered on any cleaning lady forums 🙂

Had you clicked the link to Amazon WHICH IS RIGHT THERE, you would have come across 495 reviews with a 4.5 average. Thats all you need to know.

I found my Dyson on clearance at Target. Not sure if I would pay full price for one.... but it is one awesome vacuum cleaner.

can you leave the dust/dirt in the bagless vacuums like you would with a bagged? Until it gets full that is...
