First of all. Sorry if this been asked before but I couldn't find a clear answer.
I'm trying to build a server for virtualization (Multiple PeopleSoft Environments for testing and training purposes) and I've hesitant as which way to go. I'm torn between Intel Xeon and AMD Opteron.
As it stands I'm considering btween these two servers:
- Dell PowerEdge 2950 - Dual Quad Core Intel® Xeon® E5420, 2x6MB Cache, 2.5GHz, 1333MHz FSB with 16GB of RAM
- Dell PowerEdge 2970 - Dual Quard Core AMD Opteron? 2384,4x512K Cache,2.7GHz,1Ghz HyperTransport with 16GB of RAM.
For the same budget (<$3,500)i was able to get higher clock AMD.
I appreciate any input or pointers toward the proper threads.
