Hi all and thanks for helping me, im just trying to anticipate the Hyundai L90D+ that im getting this friday and the fact that my graphics card might not cut it for the 1280x1024 native resolution.

Here are my System Specs:
ASUS K8V SE deluxe
AMD Athlon 64 3400+
1024 mb of Kingston DDR400 Valueram
ATI 9700 All-in-Wonder Pro (Not modded or Overclocked)
Creative Audigy Gamer Soundcard

Anyone have any recommendations? I can open up two slots below it by taking out my 10/100 Wired Network Card and 56k modem (which i dont use anymore really, except maybe the wired at a LAN party). Right now i mainly play alot of WoW or City of Heroes and my Graphics card when at a screen display setting of 1024x768 with all settings set at their highest produce no graphical lag except for the few seconds when i suddenly enter an area with alot of characters or detail.

Thanks for all your help

a 6600gt would be an improvement, should get one for around $200 or so for agp, less for pci-e. that's really just the next step up i believe, as a 9800 pro/xt is the same price for lower performance.

how much are you wanting to spend? read anands video reviews and see what gives the best performance in your price range (i haven't kept up with video lately except to know a 6600gt is the thing to buy in the $200 range) and then look in the hot deals forum to find out what the best deal is you can actually get on whatever card you like :)

Taelvin, I hope you do OK with your card - I'm waiting on my L90D+ and am running a 9600PRO. When's yours due in? I'd like to hear what kind of results you get. Not much chance of me sneaking a $200 card in right after I dropped $400 for the monitor - the wife notices crap like that.

If you're going to upgrade, though, I second the vote for a 6600GT - best bang for the buck right now.

If you can find a 6800 for close to the price of a 6600GT, go for it. It's greater bandwidth will allow it higher framerates with AA at 12x10. But I wouldn't count on much more than 2xAA in newer games with either card, as high-res textures are pushing beyond 128MB.

How much are you willing to spend?

Right now, I would suggest and X800XT, or an Ultra. But I have no Idea what you want to spend.

Of your on a quazi-Budget. The 6600GT is your best bet.

Wow,
Thanks so much for the quick response all. Im not certain really what my budget will be graphic wise, id like to buy a card that will last me 2 years (like my 9700 pro has always with top performance), but with the current state of PCI-Express coming out im uncertain as to whether or not im going to have to upgrade my whole set (which would suck because the set up is like 5 months old). If you guys think that the industry is changing moving away from AGP, soon, and that it will have an effect on the next two years than i might upgrade to the 6600GT just to keep me by, if not than i would be willing to put forth the investment into a X800XT or an Ultra (or possibly a better chance of the card directly below them).

To RibSpreader: FedEx Says i should get mine no later than 4:30 on friday the 18th. But im thinking if im lucky it might be the 17th, of course then again its coming from Memphis TN, and im in Northern California.....(which is i guess where the NewEgg wearhouse is for these).

You may be okay with the card that you have. Give it a try, those 9700 Pro's are pretty hardy. But if you do upgrade, the BFG 6800 OC that I've been running will run 1280x1024 with all settings cranked pretty high without a hiccup. But if you wanna run high AF and AA, I would go with the 6800 GT.

What New games will you be primarily playing?

For HL2 and Far Cry, I Suggest an X800XT (or an Pro with vivo+flashmod)

For doom3 and sych, I would suggest an Ultra. I would suggest an XT (or pro with vivo) over the GT.

Although PCI-E is technically faster, it wont be utilised for a while, Im getting a PCi-e board (for when I build my new computer) so I wont have to upgrade evrything when a new, amazing PCI-E card comes out.

Als, the Sapphire X800Pros with Vivo have a %99 chance of working (1% is manditory, nothing is 100%)

Taelvin, wow, I've ordered from NewEgg 12 times and always got shipped from CA and a few things from NJ. I'd really like to know how they operate. Makes no sense to have multiple warehouses for what they ship - no telling who really is shipping it to me. Ever notice how NewEgg parcels arrive with no return to address?

Thanks for letting me know yours shipped from TN. I'm in TX so that puts it a lot closer to me. FEDEX is saying Friday for me, should mean Thursday from past experience.

I guess we'll be seeing who posts their results first.

BTW, FEDEX has a major hub in Memphis, almost incroaches on Graceland - you should have little delay in getting yours also.

I received my Hyundau L90D+ today, its plugged in now and i dont think there are any dead pixels.

Can anyone tell me how to test a screen for dead/stuck pixels?

And any of yhou Hyundai owners out there that use DVI, can you tell me how i adjust screen settings for a DVI connection the Adobe Manual is kind of cryptic in that respect. Also where are the drivers, Windows has it as a plug and play monitor right now and that just cant be good for things at all.

Your 9700Pro should be OK for 1280 x 1024 gaming if you leave AA off and don't crank the AF too high. I was playing Halo at those settings just fine on a Barton 3200+, your 3400+ A64 should be significantly faster.
