Hi, I'm looking for a new graphics card for my dad, he has a 40" 1080p LCD TV & a 19" 1600 x 1200 LCD monitor.

He's fussy about noise so I'm hoping to get a fanless card that will output the desktop from his Pc to both displays, the TV needs to be via HDMI cable, and the Monitor via VGA.

He'll be watching 10GB+ .mkv movies from his Pc over Hdmi on to his TV

He wears glasses, so at the moment he has his monitor set to 1280x1024 using Windows Xp, so that he can read the text. If the HMDI output is set to 1080p on his TV, I'm concerned that the text may also be too small. Any advice?

Which silent graphics cards would be suitable?

Thanks

Yeah you dont need much just for output to TV, and GT 520 can do that.

I guess it comes down to what you what to spend. That asus GT 440 for $55 aint too bad though. Amazon has it for same AR price and rebate expires today.

However, it is also a bit overkill since you dont need that speed unless youre doing some gaming.

Hi Notty, he doesn't do any gaming, I think his CPU is a Dual core AMD 4000+, he has a normal ATX case, not sure about the power supply
