I'm an idiot and didn't begin searching for an internship until mid-February and because I wanted to stick around my house for the summer, I might be SOL with regards to getting a job in my desired field. Should that happen, I'm looking for other employment opportunities that don't require significant background experience.
I've always been interested in carpentry and the work of an electrician, but I doubt they'll take somebody on who has absolutely zero experience whatsoever with respect to their field. So, I was looking at places like UPS or Fedex or something similar. To my dismay, their base pay is higher than I expected, but they typically only work 4 hours per day, 5 days per week whereas I was hoping for around 40 hours per week.
Has anybody run into the same situation and had to resort to jobs in this area? I honestly wouldn't mind working in a place like that, save the fact that I wouldn't be getting experience towards my career, because i would be getting a lot of exercise doing it. I could use some words of wisdom from those who have run into similar situations. I will also not work in retail any longer having done 4 years of it.
