I've been getting back into running this past summer and now with the weather cooling off, I want to continue running outside through the cold months.

I've done a little research and haven't come across too much in the way of recommended cold weather running hats. I have a pretty big head (7 1/2 is my fitted baseball hat size). If there are other factors to consider, let me know.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I wear a wool beanie here in upstate NY for trail runs in the winter lasting 6 to 8 hours with no problem. Simple and cheap.

Second the wool beanie, or even the cheapo cotton ones from Target. You don't necessarily need a wicking/dry-fit beanie.

army uses a wool beanie. it was ok. i actually prefer the NFL sideline beanie for functionality, comfort, and look.

I use a toboggan, functionally equivalent to a beanie I guess, along with a neck gaiter that can be pulled up over your mouth(keep your lungs from taking in too much cold air directly).

The buffwear buff! I really like being able to have the top open for less sweat and just cover my ears, or face and ears from the wind. They come in too many patterns, hm even reflective. Cross country skiers use them, and that's a pretty high-output activity. The thin ones are fine for around 30. depending on wind. and you can double them up if needed.
