What are the best case fans and CPU Thermalright fans these days?

Thank you,

The new 120mm Zalman fan has some pretty good and out of this world chart performance.

You might want to look into that. It has awesome static pressure which is what you need to look at when using fans on sinks and radiators.

Its out of stock. The only fan i know that beats it is the Sanyo Denki San ACE. but that fan is kinda thick. And its not recomended that you plug that fan into the mobo header directly also.

CAse fans you want to use cheapo yates. I personally love them.

Scythe Slipstream, Nexus Real Silent fans, Noctua NF-P12, Yate Loon D12SL-12 or D12SM-12. They're all quiet, have decently high CFMs, and decent pressure.

My personal reccomendation would be the scythe slipstream. static pressure is lower than some other fans, even of scythes but, it's plenty for air cooling. for max static pressure I haven't played with taht new zalman yet but, my favorite is the scythe ultra kaze, it's a 38mm thick fan though and they're not light.

My favorite fan of all time though is one i have left over from some lazer work i was doing a few years back. it's rated to 18 volts but will run all the way down to 3 and is virtually silent below 9. and this thing moves some air. I think at 18v it's rated at 300cfm. I'd say it's moving 130 still at 9v. it baffles me how it was so efficient and the design isn't more popular, besides the fact that they were about $40 6 years ago.

What I fing peculiar is that you are always looking for the "best" of whatever when you have so far failed to grasp that even specific websites differ on what they consider to be "best".

Surely you must have learned that from your researching the same PSU question that you asked on several different forums....

QFT. There are way to many criteria to judge fans on and so many designs, all or which will excel at atleast one of those criteria. Here are my rankings and you can choose which criteria are the most important.

Budget:Yate loon

Silence: Scythe Slipstream 500 or 800rpm

CFM:Besides my old 18v fan, The Scythe Slipstream 1900 or 1600rpm

CFM to DB Ratio: Scythe Slipstream 1200rpm

Static Pressure: Again, besides my old 18V? Scythe S-flex or Nexus, the new zalman is supposed to be very good but, I haven't used one, yet.

And different fans are best for different applications - there is seldom one best of anything. Except that the Sanyo Denki ...1011 may be very close...

Except that it's like a .8amp fan. In other words be wary of what you connect it to unless it's directly to a power supply header and be VERY careful doing 7 or 9 volt easy mods with it. The bleed off to the 3 or 5 volt lines gets pretty heavy.

The 1011 is only 0.52A - most newer mobos can handle that. Many older mobos had a 0.5A per fan connector limit. But no one is going to run the 1011 at full voltage anyway. 5 to 7V is the ticket for good air with reasonable quietude on those.
