Recommendation - Silent case

Is there anything better for my new build?

If you want silence, the stuff you put inside is far more important than the box.

I don't know about you guys, but I have never seen a truly noisy case.

Noisy power supply, fans, hard drives - sure, but never a noisy case.

True but check out the antic solo case. The way the hd's mount keeps them from sending vibration noise through the chassis. Every little bit helps

That is true. Cases, by themselves, makes absolutely zero noise. ^_^

HOWEVER, one case can house a noisier system than another case even if they are housing the same parts. THAT's what we mean when talking about a "noisy case."

The Antec Solo has two great options for mounting drives, plus dampening materials on major panels, plus thicker metal construction, plus indirect air path in the front, plus decent and non-restrictive airflow. All these are known to aid in the reduction of noise generated from a computer as a whole.

I am not here to knock the case - if people like it, they should use what they like. My personal preferences on building computers are highly unreasonable compared to most people.

However, a lot of people want to build quiet computers and the most common response is "get such and such a case" and maybe something about fan control and that is where it ends.

Anyone with some space can suspend their hard drives using $1.89 worth of sewing elastic. Of all the things I have done to make my system quiet, suspending the drives had the most noticeable result and it was the cheapest thing I did - I am glad Antec has implemented this in the Solo, but it is a simple thing that most people can do on their own.

The simple guide to a quiet computer:

1. Suspended hard drives ($2)
2. Noise optimized fans ($10-100)
3. Quality CPU cooler ($25-100)
4. Quiet Video card or video cooler ($???)

If you do those things, your case will hardly matter.
