Recommendation Please!

I have three computers in my basement, all neworked together through a Linksys wireless router connected to a cable modem. My laptop is upstairs on the first floor and wireless performace is spotty. I want to move the linksys up to the first floor via cat 5. SO do i get a switch or hub?

Hubs are dead. You should get a switch; if you transfer large files around your local network, perhaps an affordable gigabit switch.

Cat 5 can be good enough, but if you're buying new cables, you should get cat 5e.

Just to be on the safe side. CAT5 is Not OK, CAT5e is OK.

In order to get faster Network Traffic you need Giga Switch, and Giga Cards in the computers.

LAN "Speed" would be faster. Internet would stay the same.
