It's okay, you'll be "unique" out west (maybe) and/or in the US of A. And if you lose it, you can probably find a "replacement" easy. They do work!

I don't know if you are keen on working in the trades or as a mechanical/marine engineer Locut0s, but there is a need for people with such skills in the West & East Coast in the next 10-12 years. Beside the previous skills, power/electrical/mining eng are also needed in AB/SK. You will be well compensate for your work, and in my experience the work is much more satisfying than IT.

As for winter wear since this is only a short term contract I'd just try to find a cheap, if not used, warm Parka.
