Recommendation needed for Burn-in Test and Benchmarking programs

I hope this is the correct forum for this question, but please let me know if it is not.

I am building a new system and need recommendation for a good program that I can use for burn-in test. If any good freeware or shareware software is available for this, that's great. Otherwise I am also ready to buy a good program. I haven't built a new system in quite a while, and last time I did (around 1996) I had used QAPlus. I am sure something better is available by now.

I am using an IWILL KK266-R mobo and a Duron 800, in case it matters. I am not planning to overclock initially, but may do so later.

While we are at it, if someone can recommend good benchmarking programs as well, I'll sure appreciate it.

TIA !!

A great burn-in test is Prime95, it will heat up your core temp to the max. And don't get too discouraged if it doesn't work all that great....I still can't figure out why it stops after 18 tests. A good benchmark is Sandra for all around stuff...and for 3D benchmarks get 3DMark2001 from MadOnion.com

rc5 will definitely show any instability or insufficient cooling in your system! :)

Small program. Self-installing floppy disk download can have you cracking for Team AnandTech in just 2 minutes. Adds nothing to the registry except the client window size and position. Can be left to work in background once your burn-in is finished since it has idle priority and only very rarely interferes with other programs (for example, it pauses itself during defragging).

PM me if interested. :)

Can these "burn ins" Be easily uninstalled after you are through using them to test temps and stability?

for CPU burn-in, run UT cityintro looping in software mode and distributed.net's little jobbie at the same time.

for video card burn-ins as well, add Evolva, Q3 and 3dMark.

I believe CPU Burn 2 is the best, I tried RC5, SETI, and many program but CPU Burn the only one made my CPU hottest more than any.
Also I run it with 3d mark 2000 demo loop.

for burnin ..i like to use prime95

for benchmarking...u should definitely download 3dmark2001 and sisoft sandra 2001.

3dmark2001 benches your video performance, while sisoft is an all around utility. there's so many things u can benchmark with the sisoft...it's got everything!!

but download 3dmark...its beautiful if you have a nice video car :)

<< Well, Sisoft sandra its only synthethic benchmark, its not real benchmark, get real be3nchmark dude. >>

And real benchmark being?
I thought all benchmarks are synthetic...
