Back then they were going for $320 when they first started up. Very pricey. LOL I see that the newer improved v2 models are down to $230 now. Once you get production going the price can drop depending on how many are made and the design of the product. Mass production can drop the prices considerably after some time.

The Da Box is starting off at $160-$180 per unit, depending on style, so if the sales keep coming in after a year or so it should come down in price a fair amount. Just depends on how many units he can sell and also how well he keeps improving the design or how well the factory can keep improving the product and cut waste. There are a lot of variables factored into these things from what I hear.

Interesting. I looked over the Qmicra information and I have to say, I do not like the design of it at all.. (especially the front mesh shaping).

Are you sure the Qmicra is smaller? This is what I got from both of their product pages:

Da Box - 8.6" x 11.4" x 14.6"
Qmicra V2e - 11" x 11.4" x 14.4"

It appears to me that that the Qmicra is a much taller case, with approximately identically width and depth.

Based on what you know about Da Box, what do you think the advantages/disadvantages are compared to your Qmicra?

Is Da Box Lan Gear's only product? How reputable is this company? Why so much hype w/ Da Box if the company only have 1 product and it hasn't been released yet?

"Affordable" SFF that should be made and designed of high quality. It's also a case, not a rocket ship, so given accurate enough information, there should be no seriously different actual product experience (don't worry, this thing does not promise to cook and do your laundry).

The owner has said that he's cutting selling prices to the bone to get it started, and expects maybe $20 price drop when volume happens. One other thing besides lower prices, though, would be more options such as different colors (including interior, not just the exterior).

I think it comes from the guy involving the community. Don't know if he did elsewhere (he spammed here instead of involving us 🙁 ) but he involved people at HardForums.

The front of Da Box does look a bit plain to me. Will most cd/dvd-rom drives fit in the external 5.25" drive bay? It doesn't seem to have the standard opening for the entire face and only the tray eject door. I'd like to see what the front looks like w/ a black cd/dvd-rom drive installed.

It's a new company. The Da box is it's first product release. Their next case, currently in developement, is a ITX case due out January sometime. It already has quite a few people interested in it. Da box is now in Pre-order for it's December 18th release.

I don't know why he chose there to ask the community. The HF SFF section does get a lot more crowd traffic and info there than AT's SFF section does. Maybe thats why? I dunno.
