recommendation for cheap video card with TV out please

helloagain

I am looking for a cheaper video card with Video out so that I can connect my old PC with my TV permanently (use as monitor) to play Divx and rm video. I got a Radeon 7500 64MB PCI from Office Depot from their clearance desk for $53 + tax. Any recommendation for a better/cheaper one?

I notice on the deal section, there is a FIC A92 RADEON 9200 64MB 8X AGP for $19.99 after rebate + tax + shipping. Which one is a better option and what is the major difference between the 2 since both are 64MB?

Thanks

For games, the 7500 is a much better bet than the 7000, because the 7000 lacks T&L support, while the 7500 has it. I've found that at least on Unreal Tounament (the first one), the 7500 (PCI, 64MB, 64-bit DDR memory) is about the same or slightly slower than a GF2 MX (AGP 4x, 32MB, 128-bit SDR memory).

I just picked up that FIC 64MB Radeon 9200 myself, waiting for the drivers to download (darn dialup) before I install it. I have an AMD XP2000 CPU on an MSI KT4V-L mobo (KT400/8235 chipset). I know that there are some reports of issues with AGP 8x mode on this mobo. The card is also an AGP 4x/8x card, but I'm hopeful that it won't have too many issues, as it shouldn't draw too much power, compared to more-powerful ATI AGP 8x cards.

I *think* the 9200 (non-SE) is potentially comparable to a GF3 speed-wise.

The dual-display and 1024x768 TV-out support are two features that I'm really excited about too. I don't play too many games, mostly just UT (and hopefully UT2K3/UT2K4 if this new card is fast enough).

Edit: You did pay a little bit too much for the 7500. Many WalMart stores have the ATI retail-box Radeon 9000 64MB cards on clearance for $50, and I think Microcenter has the 7500 (not sure if it's PCI or AGP) for like $35 or so. If you can get in on the 9200 deal, I would return the 7500 if you can.

Edit 2: If you want to use *even more* monitors connected to your PC, the 7000/7500 PCI cards make great secondary multi-display cards. Just use the high-end card for the primary display, for playing 3D games, then the use the others to extend your desktop, etc.

(That gives me a devious idea ... set up a quad-monitor system soon. hehehe.)
