My old gas stove oven just die and I need to buy another. My budget is under $500. Can some recommend a good sub $500 gas stove.

Our last stove, bought 4 years ago, was a piece. Stay away from Tappan. Oddly enough the stove we had before that was a Tappan and it lasted for 20 years.

Just got a GE yesterday. We'll see how well it holds up. At least it has larger burners.

who the hell goes to an appliance store and says "yeah i think i'm gonna buy a TAPPAN"

*shrug* Its just a low-end Frigidaire.

And FYI, 1300 BTU is nothing on a stove. I think you mean 13,000😉

I am happy with my Kenmore. It is more than a few years old now, so I am sure that they have changed models.

Good features to look for are:
1. Sealed Burners - much easier to keep clean.
2. High output burner - good for frying and boils water much faster.
3. Self Cleaning Oven - if you use the oven much.

Good Luck,
