Lately I've been getting pretty bored of my same old repetative playlist, so I'm looking to check out some different bands.

The bands I've been listening to lately are :

Mudvayne
Korn
Slipknot
Nightwish
Dimmu Borgir
Lacuna Coil
Iced Earth

If you could list some bands that fit into the same categories as those, or bands that you think I might like based on my current choices, I'd be very thankful. :)

PS: Please, no one make cracks at my taste in music/choice of bands. I know Slipknot doesn't have much popularity with most of you "new schoolers":))) but they're stuff is still pretty good, with the exception of MFKR, of course.

Concrete Blonde -- might be too soft for you sometimes but great music. Some of the harder songs: "God is a Bullet" (Free), "Sky is a Poisonous Garden" (Bloodletting), "Heal It Up" (Mexican Moon).

Only thing I like about BB is "Cold." For the other two, I can't recall specifically any songs, I know I've heard a lot on the radio, on the occasion I listen to it, but I can't remember anything.

Soft music is fine with me, I have a soft spot for songs that really make you feel good inside, kind of like "Freshmen" by The Vervepipe? Songs like that would be nice too, if you know some of them...

Have you listened to any of the old deftones stuff? I've dusted off the CDs myself this week and been listening to Korea, Elite, and Knife Party :)

Yeah, all of those are good, except I've honestly never been a Metallica fan, although there are a couple songs I do like.

I'm surprised you never mentionned Iron Maiden or Black Sabbath. ^_^

SOAD's old stuff was good, their new stuff is quite lame. :(

Shadows Fall...I've been hearing stuff, I'll check 'em out.
Cradle of Filth, has some nice stuff, I like his Dani's voice when it's deep, but otherwise he sounds like a woman.

Thanks for the suggestions! Keep 'em comming!

I like Mudvayne and Slipknot.

Off the top of my head, I would suggest:

Spineshank - Self Destructive Pattern
Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power, Far Beyond Driven and Mouth for War
Staind - Break The Cycle
Killswitch Engage - Alive or Just Breathing, The End of Heartache
Meshuggah

Those are bands in my "black/death/heavy metal" folder. If you like Dimmu Borgir, Iced Earth and Slipknot you will like these bands :)

Killswitch could be a great band, but the vocals suck (IMO)
Same thing with 3 Inches of blood, great metal riffs, solos, but the vocals kills it for me!

The Killers - Hot Stuff

Excellent album. It's more alternative/progressive/modern rock. Not quite in the same category of slipknot but, very good CD nonetheless.
