Recommend some 2.1 speakers!

i like the look of Logitech Z-2300.
I think the bass is powerful...

gaming, i guess a better 5.1 is better.. but let's stick with the topic.

Ya 5.1 is sweet and all but I don't have the room really, plus there are two pcs in the same room and a 5.1 system would override the sound from the other setup - at least it would enough to make the extra cost less sensible.

those z-2300 speakers are $99 after the rebate at NE. Are they really that good?

Yes the z-2300 speakers are amazing. After doing a bunch of research and reading reviews (don't just rely on newegg's reviews, they weed out the negative ones) these seemed to be the best 2.1s for the money. I have them connected to my Dell laptop right now and they sound amazing. Can't wait to get my build done and connect these to a good sound card. The sub shakes the house and is crystal clear. If you get lucky Dell will have a sale on them so you can get them cheap. Mine were ~$101 shipped a couple months ago (although it took them about 4-5 weeks to get here). Well worth the wait.

My wife and I both bought a set of the Logitech Z-2300 and they are AWESOME. I've did a lot of research to find out what a really good but relatively cheap set of speaker were and these rose to the top. I am most definitely not disappointed with them in the least. Also, from what research I've done, you're much better off with a nice pair of 2.1 (for the price we're talkin) than a crappy set of 5.1. Plus, if you're like me, all 5 speakers are just gonna sit right in front of you anyway...

Check Pricegrabber. They usually have some good deals. However, I know the price at Dell Small Business will look tempting because it's so low...DO NOT order them from Dell Small Business. They will jerk you around for a month and a half and tell you that they're "sorry your oder has been delayed but we are trying our best to get the items in stock" before they flat out cancel your order. Newegg, PCNation, Zipzoomfly are all good. Got mine from PCNation (after the Dell Small Business fiasco) with free Fedex shipping and got them in 3 days.

One concern is that the subwoofer is a little large (which isn't a problem for me, but it might be for some people). If you plan on putting it under your desk, I would check the specs on the sub to make sure it'll fit where you want it. Don't get me wrong though, this baby more than makes up for it's size with the quality of sound and bass it produces. Buy them now, you won't be disappointed.

If this was for music I'd probably warn you that the Logitech subs tend to be more boomy and less tight than some of the other sets in this range, but for gaming, a powerful sub that can shake stuff off shelves can be fun.

I had z-560s until I felt the need to get into some more serious audio equipment and they were very nice. If you like a lot off bass, Logitech is a good brand to get.

Those are a good budget 2.1 set. If you want something more powerful though, you really will notice a difference moving up to the midrange Logitechs.
