Recommend me some speakers between 20-30 bucks

I'm looking for some good entry-level speakers to include with my standard computer builds, but I'm too embarrassed anymore to use those El-Cheapo "SP-691" powered speakers that sell for about $8.00. I think I could MacGyver me some better speakers than those using gum wrappers and snot.

Can anyone recommend something in the $20-$30 range? TIA!

Depending on your sound card (2 or 4 channel) I will recommend these two:

2-ALTEC LANSING AVS-300W for around $25

4-ALTEC LANSING AVS-500W for around $35

ALTEC LANSING is a pretty good value and is actually a real speaker company unlike many other brands. But at your price you're at the bottom of thier line.

The logitech z340's are a nice inexpensive set of computer speakers similar to the much touted z560's.
It would be a good choice to purchase them. You can even get a sample of what they sound like if you go to Staples cause most carry these on the floor and on demo.

the Z340's have almost no similarities to the Z560's

the Z340's have 2 small satellites whereas the Z560's have 4 larger satellites, using different materials for the cones

the sub for the Z340's may look like the Z560 sub, but that's about it. the Z560 sub is much larger and is driven with a much more powerful amp. that amp also drives a lot more power to the satellites of the Z560's.

however, getting back on topic, the Z340's are nice inexpensive speakers. the bass is very good for the money, as are the sats. they just aren't in the same league as the Z560's

i'd recommend the Z340's wholeheartedly, as i would the altec lansing avs300 (2.1 setup). both sound pretty good (yes, i've used both, and i also have the Z560's).

Ok, Z340's are getting top recommendations. I may try them out for my own personal use, but I was really looking for 2 speaker system with no sub to replace the El Cheapo SP-691.
