Recommend me some new RAM..

The only game I really play is Far Cry, I do also do occasional video editing with Adobe Premier, Photoshop, and Encore, usually all open at the same time with iTunes pumping. So I assume I need at lease 1 GB of RAM. Since I'm on an A64 system...I heard something about "low latency" what does that mean? and what would be a good brand with this "low latency"?...willing to spend about $250 cdn.

System Specs:

(I dont overclock anything)
A64 3000+ s754
MSI K8T Neo (I Dont think it supports Dual Channel)
(right now) 1GB Corsair 2-3-3-8 (went bad for some reason)
Asus Readeon 9600XT

if you dont overclock then i dont think you need low latency ram, pick up a gig of corsair value select PC3200. its about $140 USD, dunno how much that is in cdn though

There's no use getting anything higher than PC3200 unless you plan on overclocking or pushing your timings and fsb - as always 'imho' 😉.

So is there a big difference between Corsair's "value ram" PC3200, and the so-called XMS PC3200 shown here: http://www.corsairmicro.com/co...pecs/cmx512-3200ll.pdf. I defiantly don't mind spending a little more cash for the performen gain.

you wont notice any performance gain

THe Corsair value ram will be fine you are not overclocking and you don't need to worry about latencies much because the performance diffference in lower latency RAM is hardly noticable.

By the way nice OC on your A64 3000 Nick.
