Recommend me some great science fiction movies that time has forgotten

I just saw Spielberg's War of the World and suddenly remembered how good sci-fi could be. Please recommend something you would consider a cult classic. TIA.

I was browsing the movies available for immediate viewing on Netflix and decided to watch H.G. Wells - The First Men in the Moon. It was pretty entertaining for some reason. I remember watching long ago when i was a kid, so maybe there's some nostalgia involved there too.

Forbidden Planet (has Robbie the robot)

Yeah, the old HG Wells movie about going to the moon was excellant.

I just watched A Boy and His Dog from 1975 last week. Its not bad for a b movie and has one of the best endings I have ever seen 🙂.

Event Horizon - one of the most underrated sci fi movies, but not a classic.
Death Race 2000 - well, it is kinda sci fi considering it served the inspiration for Darth Vader :😉

 That movie was terrible. Easily one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

I wonder if someone saw it and hated it so much that they burned it on the spot?

In any case it seems like SOME people do like it. It somehow got a 35 on metacritic. So it's not universally negative reviews like I would expect. Only 2 points lower than 10,000 BC.

I thought the concept was pretty sweet and so was the atmosphere...I didn't really like how it all played out though.

I typically hear nothing but praise for it. Haven't watched it, though.

It's a B horror film. Who are you listening to? In addition to being 35 on metacritic, it's 22% on rotten tomatoes. It's basically one random scene after another.
