Recommend me some good books!

Well, I'm looking for anything interesting, doesn't matter if its fiction or non-fiction, classic or modern. I'd enjoy a variety of topics, economics, history, science etc etc. The only thing I've not too fond of is philosophy.

Thanks

Some books that are on my queue now: Malazan book fo the Fallen (fantasy, 2 more books to go), A Brief History of Time, Commanding Heights: the Battle for the world Economy, the Big U by Neal Stephenson.

Edit: typo

How ironic. 😉

Edit: BTW, the title is grammatically ok. He made a spelling mistake.

Looked funny to me.

Dammit Joohang.....I'm a systems administrator not a....a.....a grammer type thingy person....

The only set of books I reccomend to people are the DragonLance series. Start with the Chronicles. All the other 80+ books in the series branch off of those 3 (4 counting the one just released 2 years ago to start off a new era in the DL universe) books. Definitely the best series I've ever read. They can keep you busy for at least a year if you go pick up some of the others.

Some good Science Fiction:

Dan Simmons' "Hyperion" novels
Peter F. Hamilton "Night's Dawn" trilogy (The Reality Dysfunction)
Iain Banks' "Culture" novels
Vernor Vinge (just about anything)

Try the Earthclan novels by David Brin. There are a total of 7 books in the series and it's among the best sci-fi/action/adventure I ever read 😉

Everything pales in comparison with Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin.

A Game of Thrones
A Clash of Kings
A Storm of Swords

The 4th book is coming out this fall.

If you're fond of business and economics, I think you'd really enjoy the autobiography of Sam Walton: "Made In America". I had to read it for my Management & Entrepreneurship class and it's now my favorite book. Highly recommended!!!

I second the dragon lance series, i've read many of their books. I also HIGHLY HIGHLY Recommend reading the ROBOTECH books. those books are above and beyond what the cartoon was. its like a whole new world!

[edit for grammer!]
