System's in the sig; with my recent upgrade to a PCI-e mobo & 6600GT, I hope I can play pretty much anything out there.

I don't have a lot of time to game, so something that I can sit down and play for an hour a few times a week is ideal (in other words, no online role-playing games).
I've always liked mindless first person shooters, starting with Doom on my 486. I have Doom 3 now, but will probably beat it within the week. I also dig strategy games that are turn-based rather than real time (hehe). Then I've always liked flight simulators like X-Wing & Tie Fighter (Tie Fighter's probably my favorite game ever) - any newer ones where I don't have to memorize a million key commands to play?

Thanks for your recommendations!

I would suggest Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory or Farcry. Both are 10x better than Doom 3.

Instead of a mindless FPS... why not a great tactical FPS with 149 other players?

JOINT OPERATIONS (PLUS EXPANSION) MAKES BF1942/VIETNAM LOOK LIKE PONG!

UT2k4.

You can play a few matches in half an hour in DM, or sit down & play ONS (Onslaught) for hours.

Chronicles of Riddick was a nice surprise.

If you're looking for small unit strategy games, Silent Storm is one of the few released recently in that genre, although it won't come close to taxing your new video card.

I'll second Riddick, just finished it and i'd have to give it the sleeper of the year award.

Great game with excellent graphics and some interesting styles of gameplay mixed in.
