Recommend me some blues guitarists!

Walter Trout -- Reason I'm Gone
Jimmy Vaughan -- Dengue Woman Blues
Allman Brothers -- At Fillmore East
Freddie King -- Same Old Blues
Some greats mentioned already. Can't go wrong with the three Kings. And Robert Cray is beyond smooth.

Also, while not specifically the blues, I would highly recommend buying the books Chord Chemistry by Ted Greene and The Advancing Guitarist by Mick Goodrick. You'll never outgrow these two books. Gets you thinking.

Elvin Bishop
Ali Farke Toure
Derek Trucks
Geeshie Wiley
Guitar Shorty
Smokin' Joe Kubek
Big Head Todd - Big Head Blues Club album
Another vote for Mississippi Fred McDowell
George Thorogood

He's been mentioned a few times, but not enough, Buddy Guy.

Alot of good suggestions in here, but this one is big. Catch Buddy Guy next time he is playing in your area. He is the best living bluesman out there right now. I watched him show up BB King around 10 years ago. He is a great performer and still near the top of his game.

I agree. I'd love to see him live.

Hendrix used to watch him perform, and tape him on a cassette recorder.

Stevie Ray Vaughn
Tinsley Ellis

As previously mentioned, often and for good reason:
Robert Johnson
Buddy Guy
John Lee Hooker
Albert King
