hi experts,

I'm looking for LCD monitor 21" to 24" up to $300.
based on those priorities:
1. low lag - 70% gaming;
2. HD resolution - watch HD 1080p content - 10%;
3. Video / Picture editing - 10%; this is NOT professional - so sRGB isn't needed;
4. Text / MS word & etc - 10%

What is not so important:
1. viewing angle - it's for one person sitting directly to monitor;
2. hdmi / hdcp support, but DVI is the must;
3. don't need built in speakers

I saw discussion about 24" hp monitor - but it's above my 300 price range - also I have to pay 10% taxes in CA on top of that price.

thanks.

NEC EA231WMi is on sale for $289 I think but it sounds like you would be fine with a 24" TN panel instead.

On second thought, if you think of the bang for the buck benefits you get while switching to a 1080p 27" screen then the options look better...for just a couple bux more...I'd strongly suggest something like this:

$329 - SCEPTRE X270W-1080P Black 27" 2ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 400 cd/m2 DC 60000:1(1000:1) Built-in Speakers - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824112019
$359 - ASUS MT276HE Black 27" 2ms(GTG) HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor 400 cd/m2 ASCR 50000:1 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824236080

If you have the money, get the Asus 27". If you don't settle for the Sceptre, the difference between a 27" and 24" inch is phenomenal for just a couple more bux I'd say you should make the switch.

The Sceptre is really nice since it also provides you with a 3 year warranty, as does the Asus.

I just got the NEC EA231WMI hooked up yesterday, Very nice panel. I only have run COD4 so far but see no Ghosting or Lag here. Paid 279.00 something for it from the egg. Like I said, very nice.
