Recommend me HDMI cable for my PS3!

Going to be purchasing a ps3 to play on my 1080p LCD and was wondering which HDMI cables do people recommend?

Does Best Buy carry anything worthwhile in their stores?

Just go to monoprice.com and get a cheap HDMI cable for the length you need. No need to bust your wallet.

Since I don't have the ps3 yet, which kind do I need? (ends wise, like F/F, M/M, M/F etc) Might not even be significant with that type of cable, but it's all new to me. 🙂

You'll want Male to Male, but if you just get a standard HDMI video cable you shouldn't need to worry about looking for the distinction.

I got my 6ft HDMI cables from monoprice.com for around $3.50 each. Total with shipping came to about $10.

I love eavesdropping on Best Buy employees trying to sell someone on $100 monster cables, good times.

I work at Target and some douche was buying a PS3 and asked me what HDMI cable he needed. I tried to be nice and point him towards monoprice.com where he could get one for around $6. He looked at me like I was stupid and extremely rudely told me that he just bought a (overpriced) Sony Bravia HDTV and he wasn't gonna hook it up to his PS3 with a "fuckin cheap-ass $6 cable". He shook his head at me in disappointment and grabbed a $65 Sony "Made for PS3" HDMI cable and walked away.

That's the last person I ever tried to warn about overpriced HDMI cables.

What an ignorant douche. I'm no A/V expert, but even if there is a significant difference in quality between certain HDMI video cables, you're certainly not going to find one at Target or Best Buy. $65 is a hell of a lot of money to pay for a single video cable.

my friend wanted cables, and I told him to just get any hdmi cable, since it's digital and he's only running it less than 10 feet, I don't think it really matters. It's either you get a signal or you don't.

He wanted to make sure and got the expensive Monster cables, some $80 mid priced cable with some 60-120 hz rating, and an economy 3 pack for $10 cables. He tested them, and couldn't see a difference, spent 2 days at various settings, lighting, running from his BD player, his PS3 on his new 52" lcd.

He ended up returning them all, but kept the econo $10 pack.

As long as you get a properly sized cable it isn't bad. 6' or longer I like the thicker cable. It likely won't make any difference but I just ordered a 24AWG for my PS3 and LCD that's on the truck to my house. I have four 10' 24AWG in the living room and have been very happy with them.

GET MONSTER!!!!11111oneoneoneoneoneoneone

Just kidding. I'll 45th going to either monoprice.com or amazon.com and getting the cheapest HDMI cable on either site.

As I'm sure most people have recommended here, don't bother buying the expensive crap at Best Buy. Go to Monoprice and but a $4 cable that works as well if not better than the $70 option. I bought last Friday and it arrived yesterday, works great.

I bought mine at target. That had some ps3 dvd pack on clearance. So for 14.00 I got a 8 foot cable, a remote control for the blueray player (that's not half bad actually) and T2 for blueray (LOL).

I was listening to a tech show on the radio and they said cables do make a difference. They said even the power cable can improve picture quality.

And who was the sponsor of said show? Monster Cables? Best Buy? 😉

There is absolutely no difference in the cables. If the cables are made up-to-spec, then there is literally nothing better about a $70 Monster HDMI cable than a generic $4 HDMI cable from Monoprice.

You need to look beyond the marketing.

It's theoretically possible. If you have a really, really crappy power cable and you're somewhere it can pick up interference, I could see it happening. I think you'd probably have a hard time finding a cable that crappy, though. The difference between a $4 Monoprice cable and a $65 Monster cable is going to be negligible at best.
