Recommend me an ok 19" LCD for ~$200-$250?

Currently there's the Acer AL1914B and the Fujiplus FP-988D and the BenQ FP91G+ and the Rosewill R912E within my price range.

I read the LCD Buyer's Guide sticky but the recommendations are all out of my price range. This monitor is only going to be used for internet browsing and word processing. All video and gaming functions will be on my 2001fp.

Out of those, I'd say the BenQ FP91G+ hands down. The Fujiplus does have DVI but BenQ is a much better brand in my mind. The others don't even have DVI. I'm going to add a recommendation in my guide for the FP91G+ right now. :)

I figured you would say that :)

Any that are not on my list?

No, that's what I'd have picked given nothing to start with actually (rationale being name-brand and DVI). I did recommend Samsung 940b over it but the 940b is out of your price range by quite a bit. They are probably roughly the same anyway. Both fast 6-bit TN LCDs.

Ah, but here's the problem. I won't be able to utilize DVI because I don't have a dual DVI card. My 2001fp is running on my 6800's DVI, which leaves only an analog left. Would I be castrating this monitor by using it with analog?

DVI and refresh rate will NOT be reasons for buying a monitor. Picture clarity and brightness will be.

No, far from castrating it, but it is nice to have the option if you ever get a dual DVI card anyway. I'd say analog vs digital is hardly noticeable at that size and resolution. There may be some blur though.

Plus the BenQ uses the same panel as the ViewSonic VX924, which many love. The Acer may too, but I'm sure the BenQ does. BenQ and Acer are essentially the same company. One bought the other if I remember correctly. Either way, I give the nod to the BenQ just because it does have DVI (and VGA!).

I'm fairly certain the BenQ is just as good or better than those. All LCDs within that price range use the same internal panel tech for 19".

BenQ is a good brand, as is Acer. The companies are in the same group, as is AU Optronics, who is one of the few manufacturuers of LCD panels. Therefore, BenQ uses their "own" panels, which are very good. You are getting a "big name" LCD without the big name price. In your price range, BenQ is the way to go. Here are the companes that are related to BenQ:

I bought the Fujiplus monitor at work and it is nice, but a lot of reviewers have reported dead pixels. We have bought over 20 BenQ LCDs at work, and never one dead pixel.

I also find the AUO (Acer-Unipac Optronics) panels quite reliable. I have a VP930b and no dead pixels at all. That's quite impressive. On my old Samsung 17" I had at least one or two within months.

BenQ FP91G+. My wife is using it. It's not as good as Samsung 940B, but still very nice.
