I did about an hour's worth of research without being able to settle on any mp3 player.

I'm looking for a decent one that's small and has an armband/clip available. My price limit is around $100.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

How long do you run? I have a Zen Stone, 1 gig for 40 bucks. I don't know about a clip or anything, doesn't come with one.

Right now, I run three miles.

Edit: Hmm, Zen Stone looks pretty good for running with the wrist strap and its small size.

Just get a shuffle, it's the best MP3 player for running IMO. I use mine 3-4 times a week for running between 7 & 12K each time.

It's small, clips anywhere and there are plenty of alternatives to Itunes so you are not forced to use it for loading (I don't).

I'm confused too.

I second Zen though, roughly the same size, no clip though but it looks better(IMHO) and has standardized plugs (any mini USB to USB cable will work ie from a digicam if you lose the cable)

Great now my post is above wtfbbq's which was posted before me stupid Daylight saving's.

WHY would you get the iPod shuffle?

You could get any other MP3 player that's roughly the same size that COMES with a screen so you KNOW what song you will get next and what you're listening to. What's the point of paying for a shuffle just so you can not be able to choose songs? Why don't you just get another MP3 player and cover the screen up?

I really don't understand the fascination with the Shuffle.

Ok, I love the iPod classic and the Nano, but Shuffle? I really frown when people suggest that.

Higher sound quality than the typical player of it's size. In fact it's better than the larger models, perhaps all to date.

MP3 players are cheap as hell now. I'd first and foremost not buy anything with an i before it because you pay for that. I use a 512 megger iriver that I paid $45 for with a case and it takes a AAA battery (meaning no silly battery issues). I have run and biked for hundreds or thousands of miles with it. It is the cat's meow and I would buy another. Mrsskoorb has a cheapy samsung, also perfect. The cheap Mp3 players are fine!

BTW, get a screen, those screenless ipods are the real sh*t (and not in a good way). This is 2007 not 1982, no need to scrap the screen, I use mine all the time. Both players have backlights that I've used.

I really don't understand the fascination with the Shuffle.
Because it's by apple omfg!!

Yeah, I clicked on the thread and was ready to suggest ipod shuffle and found it odd that the OP would ask and have a suggestion. :)

What the hell do I need a screen for when I'm running?

The OP (which appears to be missing) asked for which one is best for running, and IMO the 2nd gen Shuffle is the best. It is easy to use, durable, and has good sound quality. If you want to do other things with your MP3 player, then yeah, you may want something else, but for running I have not seen or used anything that beats the shuffle.

Sansa Clip looks rather cheeky. It reportedly sports high audio quality too. See reviews at anythingbutipod and so on.

I have a 2nd gen shuffle for workouts. I have no complaints. I just need to get a decent set of headphones for the gym.
