Recommend me an alarm clock

This is going to be my 3rd alarm clock in the last year. My first one, I was never able to hear the alarm. The 2nd one (my current one), the time will start changing into what looks like radio frequency. It's very odd.

Anyways, I need a new clock. Can anyone recommend something nice/geek-like?
