I am pretty clueless to wireless networks and stuff, so I would like a recommendation on a good wireless card for a PC.

I purchased some $20 card from newegg about 2 years ago for my mom's computer and it ended up not even picking up a signal at all, not even when it was 2 feet from the router. So that's why I want someone to recommend me a good one.

I'm looking for cheap but one that works. I am in an apartment and my computer will be about 20 feet from the router, w/a wall between the computer and the router.

i recommend that you learn about the difference between direct and indirect objects.

i also recommend a linksys 54g card and router, or a dlink 54g card and linksys router, or both dlink. or netgear. whatever you can get for cheap after rebate. just stay away from the chinese no name brands at fry's and you should be good.

I have a linksys wireless router. i forget the model # but it's the one you can use to make a wireless bridge.

My plan is to use that one as a wireless bridge, and put it on my entertainment stand so I can hookup my Xbox and Xbox360 to it, and then put a wireless card in my PC. I'm getting verizion DSL and it comes with the combo modem/router so I don't need to use my own router.

I just am not sure which wireless card to get, and I may just go onto newegg and see which ones have good reviews and just grab one off there, but I figured I'd ask here first too.

i've had cheap 9.99 airlink units from frys that worked fine, so if your moms couldn't connect at 2 feet...pebkac unless you want n speed it doesnt matter these days
