I left my thumb drive in my jeans and they got washed. I found it in the bottom of the washer. And it still works. Sandisk owns me for life.

I personally recommend any Kingston Data Traveler Elite. I have one that has seen continual use for over a year, and while it's showing physical wear (because I take it *everywhere*), it's still going strong. I bought it after I read some speed comparisons that placed it at the front of the pack.

I would say to get whatever is cheapest and fits your capacity needs.

I'm still using giveaway vendor thumbdrives without incident.

I tend to agree.

As far as I can tell, random chance has more to do with flash drive failure than anything else.
