Recommend me a shoe

Just like the title says, I'm looking for shoes for running and mountain biking. I don't run too much, maybe 1-2 miles 2-3 times per week. I mountain bike about 3 times per week for 2-3 hours at a time so this is a more important factor.

Do you just do trail riding? You might ruin the metal clips on the shoes by running in them on the trail.

I couldn't imagine trying to run in my Specialized mtn bike shoes.

I dont have clipless pedals. I just need something that will be durable in rugged conditions but will also double as a running shoe.

For running, there are way too many variables for anyone to suggest a single shoe. Even if you don't run that much, you can still injure yourself by wearing the wrong type of shoe (I know, I've been there). Best bet is to go to a running store and ask them for advice. They'll analyze your feet and running style and recommend you shoes based on that.

Just get some trail running shoes. Nothing to recommend that is special for "mtn biking" if you're not using clipless pedals.

New Balance makes some nice shoes for trail running. I wouldn't use regular running shoes cause they will get very dirty, worn out quicker if you're doing actual mtn biking.

Yeah I'll look into some trail running shoes. I do almost all of my biking on trails so regular running shoes would get worn out pretty quick.

You need something with somewhat firm sole that keeps your leg well controlled and not wobbly for biking. I would also recommend getting toe clips, so you want to find something that has somewhat thicker fabric on top to withstand friction from the toe clips.
I highly recommend new balance trail running shoes. I wear NB705's when I bike to work. Had them for 3 years now, and they are still in good shape after 3000 biked miles, and I wear them to the gym as well and hiking from time to time, though the trail grip isn't very good anymore since they are pretty worn. First I wore them around like everyday sneakers until I got a new pair and started using these to bike.

After a quick look at the NB website, it looks like most of their shoes have gotten softer and lighter built. I think NB 604 is the one I would pick for biking and running.

Thanks, I'll check these out over the weekend.

New Balance sneakers are great because they are light, comfortable, and resonably priced. I stopped wearing jordans, air maxes, air force sneakers and primary wear New Balance or a dress shoes

I forgot to add that it would help to wear the correct sock that give support so you won't get blisters and allow circulation for your feet.

I picked up the NB 604 today. They were going for $65 or 2 for $90 so I picked up 2. I figure I'll use a pair until they are worn out and then use the other pair. Thanks for your help 🙂
