I know little about cameras and need help buying one for my GF. I would really like XD media as thats what I have and it would be easier to just have one type of card.

Around $200 or lower is preferred but not opposed to going a little higher if it is worth it.
The only thing I DO NOT want is a Sony camera. Jesus I hate them.

Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance!

when fast 8 GB SD cards cost all of $50, an investment in a memory type isn't really much of a consideration.

anyway, all the sub-compact cameras basically do all the same things about as well as each other, so best not to spend a ton of time agonizing over which to buy. best just to watch hot deals, fat wallet, slick deals, or tech bargains for a good deal. canon SD1000 was down under $140 last week via dell coupon, for instance (still at $165 right now, not a bad deal)

I got my sister the SD800IS and she loved it...its small compact, plus has a wide angle equivelant. Its about ~$250 now depending on sales and such.

The SD800IS is a pretty sweet camera. More expensive but definitely worthly it for an ultracompact loaded with features.

I just purchased a fuji a920 from qvc for 180.00 , had a gift card.
Waiting on it to be delivered next week.

So I go to there site and see they have a one day deal for a kodak Z1275.
12 megapixel, 5x optical zoom, and the thing does 720i video, for about 200.00 shipped.

Wondering now if I should have waited.
Anyone have any comparisons of the two.

The fuji is a great point and shoot camera and it also has some manual settings if you get t little more serious about photography. it is real cheap b/c there are 2 newer versions out now, the f40 and f50.

they also use xd cards(i think th f50 uses xd or sd)
