OP there's a lot to choose from out there. Is this just a catchall, needs to be used in every type of situation cologne? Or do you want it for evenings out? Is it warm or cold in your neck of the woods? All these are factors in deciding what's good for you. You should goto a Macy's or Nodstroms if you have one nearby and go around getting samples. Know that fragrances are not going to smell the same on those little paper cards as they will when drying on your skin.

Here's a few of my favs:

John Varvatos, by John Varvatos - Leather and tonka bean (similar to vanilla), this is solid and well liked by most that try it. I've got this on today.

Be Delicious, by DKNY - Apples and coffee. It's a light, sweet scent that's pretty popular for young men.

Michael Kors for Men - A smokey, leather accord. Too bad its discontinued, but you can find it easily at online retailers. I think this is one of the best colognes out there for men when it comes to designer frags (as opposed to the niche perfume houses that you need to drop lots of $$$ on).

Rochas Man, by Rochas - Chocolate and lavender. Some people say that get a hint of coffee too. Not something you're going to want to wear for everyday purposes.

Envy, by Gucci - Sex in a bottle. This is raw patchoulli and spice. Women will want to jump your bones while wearing this one. Though it will get way to cloying and heavy in the hot weather.

Mare, by Creative Universes - My favorite summer casual scent, it's basically the smell of the ocean bottled up. Love it.

As you can tell, I love me some cologne.

Either you work at Nordstrom's or you are extremely gay, or both.

I don't swing that way. I just like interesting scents. Please look elsewhere for your homoerotic pleasures.

I've got three botles in my medicine cabinet, and I didn't buy any of them and I don't really know what any of them are called. I know there's one in a grayish bottle by Hugo Boss. The other two bottles are by some designer and I don't even know which ones (but I could pick them bottles out of a lineup).

As someone else has already mentioned, I've never bought a bottle of cologne. They're all given to me by girls. I know which bottle belongs to which girl, and I make sure to wear it appropriately. :D

It'd be different if you asked what perfume to buy a girl. My most recent purchase was a small bottle of Flower by Kenzo. I was a friggen hero for that choice. It really depends on the girl that you're buying for, though.
