looking for something smaller that's easy to carry everywhere. I already have ram/p4 3ghz cpu but I want a new mobo so I can get a pci e vid card.

Thanks!!!

in for this as I am looking to build a new machine around a 4400+ X2.

Mobo's I am considering

A8N-SLI Premium
A8N32-SLI Deluxe
A8R32-MVP Deluxe

Cases I am considering

Antec P180
GigaByte 3D Aurora
CM Stacker STC-T01

I don't mean to jack your thread, just get in on the input.

I really don't have a budget in mind, I just don't want to spend for the upper hardware. Probably $50-80 for case, 200 for mobo/cpu( if I get a new cpu)

100-200 for vid card.

so like4-500 would be fine but saving more cash would be nice.

if you don't mind going Micro, the Aspire Q-Pack is pretty sweet, there are actually a good ammount of MATX MB's to choose from, and the Q-Pack can support most full sized PSU's. I'm thinkin about getting one myself. Of course you could always get a mini tower and throw a lan-strap on it, makes it hella easy to lug around. And with that you don't have to worry about "will this fit?" for components.

the antec lanboy II or the Q pack as mention by QueBert. A 6800gt would fit your budget and a motherboard would be a dfi ultra d.

Thanks again guys, I am going after searching for info again.

I may get a lanboy case. or a cheaper one with good cooling if I can find a good strap for it.

Thinking between a 6800 or 7600 series video card but haven't made my choice yet.

Why are DFI boards so much better for oc'ing?

also do you know of any good sites for info on oc'ing? like what cpus, mobo's, mem to go for?

Thanks guys@!

You can sometimes find a really nice price on the antec slk3000. two 120mm fans and not a huge case.

7600 no doubt.

Outstanding bios options, good quality components, good support. Check out dfi.street if you are considering one. They aren't for everyone.

Once you select your mobo, visit their forums and find what parts people are using successfully with it. FI, dfi and ocz are a nice match but dfi and seasonic psu are a gamble.

Then you can start one of those, "Rate this rig" thread in general hardware

I have a P4 3.4e Socket 478 and would consider the new ASUS P4V800D-X. It's out in Europe atm. It would permit you to use your AGP as prices fall on the PCI based graphics cards. No SLI but that's over the top for me 😉

Often, CompUSA blows-out LANBoy cases for $40 AR. It's well constructed but very light. A little too light for my tastes. It comes with a harness to haul it about and 2-120 fans
