Going to build a new system soon.

Things I need:

Some overclock support;

Stability;

Good sound included in bundle or known to have good luck with xfi + sli + vista 64 + 4 to 6gb of ram;

SLI support is a plus but not necessary, depends on fermi I suppose but the option is nice.

Reliable;

200ish or less.

I just got an evga sli le and put a i7 920 on it. The bigest reason why is because x58 will allow your first slot to run in full pci-e 16x if you choose to have two video cards. It also supports up to three Nvidea or ATI cards if your into gaming. And oh yeah it comes with good overclocking software, which I wont even use until it starts to feel outdated. It also supports 8 channel high def audio. I payed 229.99 I think its worth every penny. I've also heard that x58 will support the upcoming six core i9 processors.

Msi has a new fusion board thats 1156, and supports the new hydra technology which allows you to mix and match different brands of video cards. It supposedly will make more efficient use of each cards potential

The 1156 boards are more budget oriented. That said, if you choose to go for an 1366 board expect to spend a little more on RAM as the triple channel kits cost more. OTOH If you care about ocing, the X58+920 is probably the best combo out there. I also don't believe that sound could be an issue as most boards come with built-in 7.1 audio.

Personally, and since you are set to spend around 200$ for the board alone, I would go for that Asrock. For 160$ it will save enough cash to compensate for the extra cost of the triple channel kit.

I would strongly agree that 1366/920 with any 200.00 board would be the ticket..im so happy with my 920/dfi x58 board the dk model.
this is a wonderful system...even at stock settings it is very impressive...came from a 955 amd system and this system smokes it...i run 3.0-3.2 o/clocked and this thing rocks..if you shop around you can build a 920 system for what an i5 system would cost or at least very close...
all the x58 boards perform about the same so pick a board out that has the features and layout you like and go with it....asrock,foxconn,asus,evga,gigabyte all are stellar boards...dfi too but there getting hard to find...ill tell you ive built 2 systems with the foxconn boards and both people are totally pleased with them...plus if you have a windowed case they look awsome.....
