Recommend me a Linux distro

Like it says, I've been out of the Linux loop for about a year, seems like a lot has changed in the world of Tux (not the least of which being Ubuntu...). Here's what I'm looking for:

1) Absolutely no source-based distros (I don't have time anymore to waste on tinkering with Gentoo).
2) No "Gnome distros" (don't want Fedora).
3) Good distro for programmers/developers.

I guess I could use Slack again, but I want to see if there's something new to try. How's Ubuntu? The new Mandrake (can't remember the name)? "N00b distro" not withstanding, Mandy still had one of the nicest custom KDE GUIs I've ever seen.
 
sound's like you'd might like kubuntu. or you could just try a new WM. SymphonyOS uses one called Mezzo which looks very cool (i'm planning on installing SymphonyOS) or VectorLinux makes it easy to install Enlightenment.
 
i was using just the x86 version. its good. it didnt support my nic, but i found out why. everything else, was native. loving every second of it. i am now looking to change to something else. i get bored with os's so i have to change about once every 3 months. im weird. i move my furniture in my house alot too. im a change fanatic.

LOL, same here. I have a huge collection of old distro CDs gathering dust. Sounds good, I'll give the x86 version a try. I was a little concerned about the driver support and other compatibile issues with the 64-bit version too, so this seems like the safer option.
 
im gonna try ubuntu amd64 bit. i was going to try slack... but i got ubuntu way faster on the download. so thats what i am going to use. you can just install the stuff for kde in ubuntu. its easy if you use apt-get... that way you keep your stuff. just an idea.
