Looking around, I like the Logitech G11, but $60 is too much. Anyone know where to find it cheaper than what the Egg has it?

Lots of folks here like the Logitech Ultra-X and it's pretty inexpensive. The Ultra-X is generally sold as OEM, so you may have to look around a bit to find them. They are available in PS/2 and USB, but sometimes hard to find one or the other type. The Zippy keyboards are popular too. Both have the notebook type keys.

I have an older version of the Lenovo Preferred Pro keyboard. Mine's the black IBM model with square corners... I have a 2nd that has never been used, but I tossed the box and the wrist rest. It's very solid, still a membrane backed keyboard tho. Medium firm keys, and it's easily washed. The top tray/frame is what holds the keys, you can take the whole tray off with the keys on it and hose it or stick it in the dishwasher.

If you're interested I'd be willing to part with it... It's PS/2

I pondering getting the Enhanced model that has the multimedia keys.

Tip: You need to have air circulation underneath your HDD too as that is where a lot of the heat is generated. Put it in the HDD rack properly...

Do you prefer the OTK (one true keyboard) layout or the "big L" key? Clicky mechanical or quieter? Color? Etc.?

HD reads at 38C so I don't think its a problem, helluva lot quieter this way too.

Uhh, can you show me an example of OTK and big L? I like the feel of clicky, but its a tad too loud, something inbetween?

OTK has the horizontal enter key with the backslash and vertical bar key above it where the top of the L shaped key would be.
Link to OTK layout:

Here is a decent one Keytronic E03600P2 - the original Das Keyboard was based on it (and suckers actually bought the thing for $80.00). Maximum PC magazine was pwned too Can be had in either PS/2 or USB. Comes with the new Ergo key pressure layout where the key pressures vary from the strong fingers to the weaker ones just like the D-K. Provantage.com has it for less than $20. and Newegg is $31.00 (one may be white box while Newegg claims to be in retail packaging - both Provantage and the Egg have the wrong pic linked to the descriptions for this kbd - they show the big-L instead of the OTK).

And the Keytronic EMS company has been around nearly as long as the PC itself - at least in the beginning they OEMed Microsoft's keyboards too (IDK who does them now). They make a couple of other OTK layout keyboards, one in the Eurostyle and another in the Designer series but they are hard to find to buy - but you can buy direct from Keytronic if you want.

PS: re. HDD cooling - you've been warned (an ATer doesn't get titled Elite just on post count). Don't blame me... .bh.
