Home and Auto warranties are a scam. They will find a reason not to cover expensive failures. And if something like your AC breaks. they wil hire the cheapest company they can find. They don't pay full rates.

My family is in the auto business and has a few dealerships. They won't deal with these auto warranty companies. Why? They want to get paid.
Not only will they pay the cheapest people they can find. They also won't send out actual licensed people. My FIL got one when selling his house (if you offer it as part of the selling, you get the coverage while your house is on the market). His heat pump went out, he dicked around with the company for literally 3 months in the heart of the winter. They were sending out an appliance repairman, not a licensed HVAC company. When he finally claim he was finished, it still didn't work right. Ended up having to pay his normal HVAC company thousands to come out and fix everything right, after being without heat for 3 months in the winter.

I've known a few people that have used them, and they've never actually gotten a licensed contractor. And then they will do the cheapest most shoddy repair they can to try to get you out of the warranty period.

-Yeah, the home warranty market is likely propped up quite a bit by "courtesy" purchases by RE agents for their clients to boost their profile.

Our RE agent did the exact same.
If you actually buy one, the RE agent gets a very nice kick back too.
