Orecks are awesome

Horribly overpriced if you look at what they are made of though.

Anyone see that Dirt Devil with the dual cyclone thingy? Good vacuum or is it just for looks? I like the power brush.

Try a Panasonic one. Seriously, I have this ugly green one that's been to hell and back over about 5 years and the thing still works great.

Sorry to rein on OP's paraidee -

Get something with a big vortec motor and get drag six speed trans and definitely a hippo filter to trap poland since it's allergy seasoning around the ears. They'll trap the drandruff of loose dogs and rats if you have those too so your endless sneezes are shore to stop!

I got an Eureka Boss for $30 at Wally 3 years ago. It is a real little guy, with no hose and bright yellow. Damn thing is the best vacuum I have ever had. It will even suck saw dust out of carpet (Too lazy to move the carpet in my research lab before sawing).

In 3 years the only thing I had to do to it was replace the filter, which is 1/3 the cost of the vacuum :p.

Update: Linky

What's with the spelling? That had to have been on purpose, but to what end?

Hah! uh! We're having a hurricane party because there's no hurricane in Bermuda. The bass is painting mesmerizing moire rainbows on the trinitrons tonight.

The ship never sleeps...

I had a Eureka upright that lasted 20 years if you can believe that. I replaced it with a cheap Bissell that doesn't use bags.

I handed my step-mother a blank check and told her to bring me back the best vaccum cleaner <$500, since I know that she has a lot of experience with commercial vaccum cleaners. I don't know what it is, but its modular, cost me $320 and fvcking rocks. I'll try to update this post when I get home for an fyi.

You mean the one that actually cleans, and will even shampoo and buff floors?

All these plastic POS vacuums being recommended gives me a good laugh.

The sad (yet true) fact is that a 30 year old Kirby will still outperform any of these POS Dirt Devil, Eureka, et al.
