I love scary movies such as: The ring, The Grudge, Paranormal activities.

But I absolutely hates stupid, mindless, talentless, and senseless killing from movies such as: SAW, Scream, Final Destinations, etc...

Alien
Aliens
Arachnophobia (not particularly horrific, good dashes of black humor throughout)
Birds
Constantine
Dawn of the Dead (the remake is better than the original)
Halloween
Jaws
Let the Right One In (get the original, not the American remake)
The Mist
Outbreak (more thriller than horror)
Pitch Black
Predator
The Thing
Tremors
Zombieland (more funny than horrific)

Wow, you haven't seen a real scary movie, just mindless & repetitive killing, I'm so sorry.

I just watched Paranormal Activity 2 the other day, I was jumping out of my skin.

I thought part 1 was scarier, partly because I wasn't expecting anything like it before. Part 2 I kinda have an idea of how the movie goes so i guess that's why it's not as scary.

Anyway, someone suggested "Audition," I just watched the trailer on youtube and it looks pretty interesting.

I thought 2 was scarier even knowing what might happen.

LOL. You're a fucking idiot if you honestly think trendy, average movies like The Ring are 'genuinely scary' but classics like Alien and The Birds that stack up well against every movie ever made are not.

Easy there killer, everyone has a different idea of scary.

not very scary, but no senseless killing either:

The Haunting (1963)
The Changeling (1980)
The Innocents
Don't Be Afraid of the Dark
The Legend of Hell House

The originals of The Ring, The Grudge, The Eye, etc. are scarier than the Hollywood versions, imo.

Oh, definitely watch Audition.

I don't think you like scary movies all that much. those movies rely on cheap thrills and shock (good that you notice the same kind of cheapness in Saw and Final destination, though)

I do think the Ring has some decent creep value to it, though.

Try some classics:

Rosemary's Baby
The Shining
Jacob's Ladder (mind fuck more than anything)

...some of these may not hold up to certain audience's, though. As good as Rosemary's Baby is, it's probably easy enough to laugh at some of it rather than being creeped-out. :\

well, Let the Right One In is quite good.

also, the original Psycho tends to stand up today against anything else. It's that good, and even the cheap imitations have no hope of capturing how good that flick was.

If you haven't watched it, then you need to start there. It pretty much defined the genre considering its influence on every such film made after that.

Also: Rear Window. fantastic.

Can you sit and focus on one thing for 2 straight hours? No computer, no texting, no talking?

If yes, sit in the dark and watch these....

The Changeling
Jacob's Ladder

The Birds is scary? Maybe if you're high while you watch it.

The Shining is a pretty good scary movie.

+1

Who thinks Paranormal Activity is scary? The only scary thing is there are people willing to see that stupid crap.

I seriously hope you are joking if you think the classic horror films (not all of them some of them) listed are not scary but bullshit like "The Ring" (I'm assuming just the American remake) is scary.
