I JUST PAID $100 SHIPPED FOR AN IP4000 THAT WORKS GREAT. man doesnt anyone search around anymore? "theyre popular printers so you cant find them anymore" what? thats why you can find them, a lot of people have them and they dont thow them away. but they do sell them because they think $50 for a printhead is too much when at the same time theyll gladly pay another $150 for a brand new printer!

Well I got an Epson RX680 at staples with the Staples deal with a camera it ended up costing about $40 I thing this thing has a lot of usefull features and it prints great pictures. Im going to install a CIS system for it so I can save money on ink. I think the problem with most printers are the cost of ink. With this printer and a CIS system cost per page is even less than a laser printer and great photo prints

.
canon ip4000 printer

lovely printer

it has a problem

it is printing stripey

it has the cd tray and drivers with it

no ink carts
.

Condition:
Refurbished

Besides I never buy from ebay,I guess you did not read what happened to my brother when he tried to purchase a laptop from ebay.(Police are still trying to track the guy down that took his £1000 ).

Now try and find a real store in UK that has it in stock and not ebay,on second thought don't even try since you won't find one and I'm more then happy with my iP4500.

As for searching,I got my new iP4500 for £62 inc free delivery in UK(cheapest UK price period by searching online) and I did do a search to see what models were available before my purchase,I even considered and looked at some Epson models(lucky that was only a thought).

i understand why you dislike ebay and the idea of used, but its not a whole lot different then going to a car lot and buying a used vehicle, just a much smaller grip of money of course. you just have to be smart, get good communication going. i have done over 200 ebay transactions now and not one has been bunk

It's not just ebay,I was looking for a new Canon printer rather then 2nd hand etc...end of the day I got a great deal online, and using refillable quality inks makes ink costs real low.

Side note: Pretty impressed how fast the iP4500 prints A4 size photos.

well im glad you like it... for now! ;) they are quick- and a tip- DONT shut off the printer when not in use, do not even use the auto-shutoff or 'sleep' function thats built in. they leave that stuff off by default because when the printer is shut off for days at a time the printheads clog. if you leave the printer on, it keeps the heads active apparently. I know for myself this helped a great deal in making my printheads last, in fact i havent had ONE clog since ive been leaving the printer on 24/7.

I normally leave it off,my i865 had no problems being off all the time(longest was probably 4-5 weeks),however my old epson was bit of a pain, clogged a lot quicker then Canon in my experience.

Also saw this.

Question: Should I turn my printer off or leave it on?

Answer: Turning your printer off when not in use can, and does, help prevent drying of ink in the print nozzles. With most all ink jet printers there is a `capping` mechanism that seals the print head from outside air when it`s turned off. Remember, turn off your printer using its on/off power switch. This causes the capping mechanism to fully engage.

I doubt it,personally I leave it off after use just like my ex-i865 printer which never gave me problems until a worn head, why waste electricity when you don't need too,too many people seem to don't care about the environment.

I also read the iP4500 manual ,nothing about recommending to leave it on so it can't be that important.

Side Note:Just refilled two on my carts, yellow and magneta(I do a lot of printing) and had no problems with hitting resume button to carry on printing, quality wise I can't tell the difference between Canon ink and third party ink(Jet-Tec and Xprint which are both very good quality UK inks and well known in Europe).

Hi Soviet and others,

I had an HP 722 for several years and it did OK, but replaced it with an Epson 870 (I think) and a Canon 3000, about 3 years ago. The 3000 is still working great, but I put the Epson in the eCycling depot recently and replaced that with a 4300.

If you can find a Canon 3000 anywhere, get it... great, simple, and reliable. If mine goes, I'll try to replace the print head if that's possible.

So far I like the 4300, chipped carts aside... it seems to act just like the 3000. Same quiet printing, same long time to get started up if it gets switched off inadvertently (or if I lose juice), same good quality print, both black and color. I'll deal with the chipped carts when I need to based on info from another thread about compatible carts and refills: http://forums.anandtech.com/me...=2124643&enterthread=y

As for leaving them on all the time, I do leave them both on except when I go away for a trip or such. I haven't experienced any trouble from them by doing that...

well yeah, the first time you run out it will tell you youre out, but after you manually refill, youre on your own. dont let it run dry!

and waste the enviroment? i bet that alarm clock that you leave on ALL DAY takes more juice then a printer left on;)

I eyeball my ink carts regularly ,showing 50% full still which only takes a flip of the lid ;).

My alarm clock is battery(rechargeable batteries too ) ;).
